Church Fans' Beta Test Website Review of Charlotte's 2002.

This is been one of the
most interesting years yet for Miss Charlotte Church, aged 16, from Cardiff,
Wales - and one that we're very proud of here to be able to be a very small
part of. What follows is my Review of 2002 and how it has been for Charlotte,
therefore, most of it is formed from my own opinions rather than anything
else, so please bear that in mind while you read. Enjoy!
BACK TO THE BEGINNING: THE LAUNCH
OF THE NEW IMAGE OF CHARLOTTE CHURCH WEBSITE - AUGUST.
After a disagreement within the ranks
of CharlotteChurchFans.com, the Site was left largely not updating for a couple
of weeks. From the Yahoo! Group, the Geocities Site was launched, almost as
a joke, but soon made its mark. Around the same time CharlotteChurch.net was
launched, but we thought as we'd started here we'd see how it goes - and we're
still here!
CHARLOTTE CHURCH's NEW IMAGE PRE
- AUGUST.
Already, previous to our launching
was the surprise (and in some places) shocking news that Charlotte had accepted
her "Rear Of The Year" Award!

This left some people and places of
thought shocked, as this clearly wasn't in-keeping with her "Angelic
Image". With most of her Websites either not featuring the event at all,
or only as "quietly" as they could, while this event was clearly
a publicity stunt designed to take the shine off of Charlotte's Angel Wings.
This is probably going to be the most talked about "Event" of Charlotte's
Year, but there's a lot more to go yet!!!

Charlotte also celebrated her 16th
Birthday this year with a very nice and glamourous photoshoot for O.K. Magazine
(click here to see it), but with the advent of
her "Rear Of The Year" Award and what else was to follow, this was
quite quickly put to one-side by most Sources.
CHARLOTTE CHURCH's NEW IMAGE AND THE
MEDIA
One could almost go on for pages on
this subject! Arguments rage as to whether the Media, and in particular the
British Press, have been "scum" to Charlotte or whether all, some,
or part of the coverage of her private life has been "organised"
in some way, by either Charlotte herself, her Management, or maybe even her
Parents. Staged photographs, a lack of any denial in some areas, to an almost
instant denial in others has provoked long and deep debate in some quarters,
and at one stage had the name "CHARLOTTE CHURCH" on the front cover
of every Newspaper in the U.K. and even started "leaking" to the
U.S. Media. Other Websites have either declined to feature these at all, have
published the stories but with their own heavy bias, only one has published
them as they have appeared - The New Image Of Charlotte Church Fans's Beta
Test Website!
Charlotte featured predominantly in "The Sun" (U.K. Newspaper).
My thoughts on the matter? Well, it
is hard to say. I have said from the first photographs of Charlotte and Steven
Johnson that something was not quite right. I would say we have witnessed
some form of "media campaign" possibly from Charlotte and her Management,
at least at first - after this it is difficult to say. I will disagree with
one factor a lot of people, in my view, have been misguided in their opinion
- that is has been an attack or "negative spin" on Charlotte.
All the "attacks" have actually
been on Charlotte's "Old Image " or the "butter-wouldn't-melt-in-her-mouth"
ideal, which it would seem she herself has been wanting to ditch with comments
like "...I lost my Angel Wings when I was 12...", most coverage
that has been regarded as "negative" - smoking, sex, being rude
to fans, moving in with her boyfriend, etc., etc., are all aimed at making
her more "rock-star chic" than anything else. At the point of the
U.S.A. Xmas Tour it is rather difficult to assimilate whether this was
still part of a publicity campaign or whether the British Media had gone off
on a non-approved tangent of its own?
CHARLOTTE CHURCH:
AN "A" STUDENT BABY!

Despite being on Tour at the time,
and having to sit her exams at 0400 hours G.M.T., Charlotte scored A*'s in
all her G.C.S.E. Examinations (see our coverage here).
This clearly shows one of two things, and possibly both. Firstly (and most
obviously) Charlotte's shining intelligence. Most people would be beyond giving
their all in a Musical Performance and then sitting down in a quiet room on
their own to sit a series of serious exam papers.
It also echoes the fact of what a
private, and indeed, one-to-one Education can do for one. Obviously the Student
has to have the intelligence, ability, and eagerness to learn in the first
place, but without first-rate Tutors to impart their knowledge, the Student
would have little to no good chance of achieving the exam results Charlotte
did - Well Done!
WHY DO FOOLS FALL IN LOVE?
Charlotte...in love for the first time...but is it true?
Actually, that's unkind! Who reading
this hasn't been a fool in love? Falling for your first girl/boyfriend is
never easy, and still considered by many (even Britney Spears) to be the most
important of your life. Steven Johnson, it appears, is the man who has taken
Charlotte's heart. This has led to considerable press coverage over her so-called
"bad boyfriend", and whether he did try and sell their secrets for
money or whether the "News"papers tried to lure him into selling
and then crapped all over both of them, we don't know. It possibly was entirely
made up from the start, but I hope in the New Year Charlotte's heart isn't
broken by him - or anyone else.
"DOES A LOT OF WORK FOR CHARITY"
This year has been no exception with
her help of building a new Children's Hospital in Cardiff (read about this
here) by helping Mr. Ian Botham on his Charity Walk.
She also attended The "Dinner of the Champions" Annual Event in
the U.S. held in aid of the battle against Muliple Scherlosis (read about
this here).
Charlotte attends the Mr. Ian Botham's Charity Walk with Ms. Catherine
Zeta-Jones, in aid of a Children's Hospital in Cardiff.
It is nice to know that even with
a Superstar of Charlotte's ilk that she still makes time and gives as much
as she can to help Charities, particularly when it is a local one to her.
Charlotte, we salute you!
IS CHARLOTTE ABOUT TO ENTER A "BRAVE
NEW WORLD"?
No matter, how you look at it, Charlotte's
potential for 2003 is very high. Firstly we have "The Family Business"/"I'll
Be There", which is rumoured to be released in the first Quarter of the
Year, and secondly two Singles, both of which have the potential to be Hits.
"The Opera Song"/"Brave New World" could be the start
of a brand new Musical Direction for Charlotte and a lot depends on how she
wishes to market this Single - already receiving rave reviews and being on
heavy rotation on "The Box" Satellite T.V. Channel, this could open
new doors for Charlotte - including one to the B.B.C.'s Top Of The Pops Studio.
This Single is potentially very important to reach fans she wouldn't have
done so before because the strength of her voice comes across very strongly.

The other single, taken from the film, could be equally as big (if not bigger),
but does depends rather a lot of the success of the film itself.
Not to mention "Prelude" and how well that has done as her best
of Album?!
HERE'S TO 2003.
So what does 2003 hold for Charlotte
and her Websites?
It could be an intruiging year in this respect. Already some Sites don't
like the way in which Charlotte has been progressing, both in her Career and/or
her Personal Life in 2003. The question is whether she will continue and in
that case, will they continue?
Even though The New Image Of Charlotte Church Fans' Beta Test Website has
grown and expanded with the U.S. Site (www.newimageofcharlottechurch.org)
this Site is still in Beta and remains so until April 2003. We aim to cover,
as we have stated from the start, all aspects of Charlotte Life until then,
afterwards who knows?!
